Bacon ‘Cabag’ Brown Arcade Game Project

For this arcade game, which you can see in the previous post, I made an arcade controller to play that game.

The controller is painted cardboard with buttons wired up to micro;bit. Then, after I did this I plugged it into the TV, I was so excited, I booted by my game to see… that…

IT CRASHES.

So, already I was off to a great start. I tried some different things but nothing helped, but what the problem was is something I feared would happen…

My code had too many ifelse forever loops, and it crashed the micro:bit.

So, what I had to do is edit my code… and what I had to do was change the ifelse loops to functions and the functions being called. Finally, the game had run, and I felt very accomplished.

Adventures of Bacon ‘Cabag’ Brown

I made a game in ‘Microsoft MakeCode Arcade’, and this game is a game where you play as a cat names Bacon Brown, whose nickname is ‘Cabag’.

When you enter the game, you are greeted with two buttons, with the words ‘Story’ and ‘Endless’ respectively.

You can control the magenta cat with the arrow keys and choose a mode. Endless mode does not have a conclusion and just keeps going until time runs out, and you can try to get a high score. Story, on the other hand, has visuals with text along in Spanish, so have fun understanding what the story is.

I’m not going to explain the story because I want you to play the game and figure it out for yourself, but I will say this: It’s comprised of three main parts, and while the second one is impossible to lose in and purposefully confusing without any instruction, the third is actually rather difficult.

The inspiration from this game is from my Spanish class where we made up an imagery ‘class pet’, which is a magenta cat named Bacon Brown, whose nickname is Cabag, and this game is an adventure el gato went on for paitura primas.

Chase Macaroni and Cheese!

So, there’s this thing called ‘Microsoft Arcade’, and it’s something where you can make games through it!

So, what I did is started off with the tutorial for the ‘Chase the Pizza!’ game.

The first thing I changed was instead of Pizza, it’s Mac and Cheese instead of Pizza. The next thing is I decided: even with a countdown timer, it’s too easy! My first idea was to make the timer become less and less the more points you get! But still, the game was too easy; so I took the natural course of action and added a spike. But still, I wanted more.

So, I did this: once you get enough points, the spike will chase you. Once you get more, it will go faster. Now, you may realize that there’s a bit of a problem here: when you get a point, the spike and bowl are scattered around randomly. What if the spike spawns on you? What happens when you get enough points the timer will start at zero?

While making the game, I considered both of the possible outcomes, so here’s what I did: The player is refreshed to the top left, and the spike cannot spawn there, thus you will never get an instant game over. Now for the timer: it starts a bit above 60 seconds, and then it will go down. However, when you get to 50 points, the timer goes to 3 seconds and stays at 3 seconds. Since the game becomes insanely stressful at this point, once you reach 65 points, YOU WIN!

Another thing: I added sounds to play when you get the mac and cheese, which I realized the code stops for the sound. So, I had to move it to the end of the chain or else the mac and cheese will be delayed in it’s new position.

hi.

I am a Scone.
…(um, guess you probably already knew that.)

Just kidding, I’m a person!

So, that means here I go:
If you came here, you probably want to know more about me, right?
Right.

So, I like to draw a lot in my free-time. Although I really like to draw, I’ve never wanted to pursue it as a job. So, if you noticed drawings(digital or not) scattered around the page, chances are, I drew them!

Something else I do in my free time is watch waaay too much yugioh. Yeah, um… Way too much. Yugioh GX is my favorite right now, and I’m watching Arc-V. Before, I watched 5Ds, and it’s upsetting how it just ends. If I were to chose a favorite main character, if I had to chose right now without thinking much about it, I’d say Yuyu from Arc-V.

I am prepared to face backlash for this statement-
The dub of season three of YuGiOh GX is an enigma, but it’s amazing.

I write a lot too. I enjoy making stories based on the action of characters, where the story is a character driven mess of my daily thought. And when I say mess, I mean there’s this one story I made and I kept stopping and coming back, so plot-points were forgotten and then not re-adapted well.

Although I enjoy writing a lot, and I DO enjoy reading, I have a lot of trouble finding a story that I can keep focus at. Right now, I’m reading this one book, and I stopped for a second and realized- oh yeah. This story is really boring, but I want to know the mystery in the end, so I have to keep going.

Music- music is one of the things I love a lot. I love listening to it so so much. I quite literally am not exaggerating when I say I have a playlist of 400 songs I enjoy listening too. I can show you. My favorite band right now is Myth and Roid.

You might of realized Myth and Roid is J-Pop. Yes, I listen to Japanese words, yes I am a massive anime fan. I have fun watching it, but even more fun when I watch it with other people. It’s a great feeling to experience watching a show with someone else.

If you’re wondering who the person is that I share my experience with, it would be my Older Brother. We hang out a lot. Watching things with him is an experience that annoys everyone else other than me. For example, there’s this one show called RWBY. RWBY is the most above average shows to ever exist. But my experience watching it was something amazing I just can’t share. When I’m tired and my brother makes a small joke, we start laughing at the smallest things, and then; well, that’s how inside jokes that last with you forever are created.

Hanging out with people; family or friends? That’s what I really enjoy doing. There’s no way I could possibly explain why somethings are funny; it’s funny because of several days of chain reactions. I love hanging out with people, and having a good time.
I also can’t explain why this joke I make of why one person will always beat three people other than a large events building up to the most stressful experience I’ve ever had in Minecraft.

That’s a bit about me, so yeah.

That’s basically me in a nutshell. :3
